Fee Policy

Elsternwick Clinic is a private practice. The consultation fee depends on the time and complexity of the consultation, and the number of issues to be discussed. The doctor determines the fee after the consultation. A list of fees is available at reception. Please feel free to discuss the fee with your doctor. Full pensioners and Veterans' Affairs patients are bulk-billed. Health Care Card holders are charged a reduced fee. Procedural consultations may incur an extra fee. There is an additional accounting fee if an account is not settled on the day. Click here for more information.

Consultations are by appointment, however urgent medical matters will be given immediate attention. Appointments can only be made over the phone. New patients are given a long appointment as the doctor will need to obtain a detailed medical history. Please make a long appointment for complex or procedural matters.

Telephone Calls to Doctors

Doctors can be contacted by telephone during usual surgery hours. If the doctor is with a patient, a message will be taken and the doctor will return your call. Some results are extremely confidential and an appointment will be necessary. In an emergency your call will be put straight through to the doctor.

Elsternwick clinic has a recall policy to advise patients that they are due for procedures such as repeat Pap smear tests, blood tests or immunisations. Please advise your doctor if you do not wish to participate in our reminder service.

It is the policy of this practice that patients make an appointment to obtain a referral unless the matter has been recently discussed with the doctor. This is in accordance with government regulations.

Repeat Prescriptions

Requests for repeat prescriptions may be organised over the telephone, however the doctor may advise the need for an appointment. The fee for a repeat prescription is $5.00.

Car parking and access

Due to building works taking place, there is no longer parking behind the clinic. Street parking is available on Glenhuntly or Orrong Rd, and disabled access is now possible via the ramp at the front entrance to the clinic on Orrong Rd.

Home Visits

The doctors at this practice may provide a home visiting service for regular patients if they are too ill to attend the surgery. We ask that requests for home visits be made before 10.30am if possible.
